For my 10th dance, I knew exactly what I wanted to do – Lambada, my #1 favorite dance. Ever since I watched "The Forbidden Dance Lambada," I have been captivated by its energy, passion, and beauty. I aimed to honor the movie by incorporating elements of it into my performance. It felt like the perfect way to celebrate my dance journey.
The costume I chose initially was a
swimsuit, but I wanted to infuse it with the vibrant and lively Brazil vibe. I took inspiration from a particular part of the movie where the female lead wore a skirt with swooshing, short ruffles that moved effortlessly as she danced. This design felt like the right blend of personal style and movie magic, capturing the essence of Lambada while adding my twist.
Recording the dance in the studio was an experience in itself. I wanted to preserve the moment, so I decided to upload the video to YouTube along with the rest of my dance performances. I never expected what came next – Lambada resonated with viewers in a way I could have never imagined. The video blew up, quickly surpassing one million views! I was
left completely speechless. I had started uploading these videos as a way to create something I could look back on when I’m older, cherishing the memories of these wonderful experiences. The incredible response was an unexpected yet heartwarming bonus.
I am beyond grateful to all my viewers and everyone who has supported me both on and off camera. The joy of knowing that so many people enjoy watching my dances makes the journey even more special. This experience has motivated me to continue sharing my passion for dance, and I’m already planning a second Lambada performance in the future, using a different song from the same movie.
Dancing Lambada has reminded me why I fell in love with dance in the first place – it’s not just about the steps but the emotions, connections, and memories that come with it. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey with me. Here’s to many more dances and unforgettable moments!
