For my 17th dance, I decided to dive into a bit of nostalgia with the iconic Addams Family theme song. This performance was extra special because I got to involve my friends, their kids, my son, my niece, and even another dance instructor. We all had a part in the quirky Addams Family, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a fun, spooky time capsule.
One of the biggest challenges (and surprisingly one of the most entertaining parts) was learning to cut roses to the beat of the music—just like Morticia. You wouldn’t think something as simple as snipping off roses could be tricky, but let me tell you, it took a few tries to get the timing right. The beat is so distinct that there’s no hiding if you’re off!
Another highlight was my friend volunteering to be the Thing. They
spent most of the performance under the table with just their hand popping out of a box to add that classic Addams Family flair. Watching it all come together made me laugh, and I could tell everyone was having just as much fun as I was.
It felt good to dance to a theme from a show I used to watch growing up.
There’s something magical about blending dance with memories from the past. This performance wasn’t just about the steps—it was about reliving moments and sharing them with people I care about.
I can’t wait to tackle the next dance, but this one will stick with me for a while. If you ever get the chance to incorporate a little nostalgia into your projects, I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to bring smiles all around.
