Performing my 18th dance was an exhilarating experience I won’t forget. This time, I danced to Katy Perry’s version of "Con Calma" at a luxurious hotel ballroom. From the grand entrance to the final move, every moment was filled with energy, excitement, and just a little bit of nerves.
The Grand Entrance
I wanted to make a bold statement with my introduction, so I enlisted the help of four incredible dance instructors. The plan was to have them carry me out onto the ballroom like a queen making her royal debut. Draped in a dramatic black cape, I kept my costume hidden, building anticipation for the big reveal. The moment we reached the center of the ballroom, the first instructor whisked away the cape, unveiling my outfit just as the music began. It was a theatrical start that set the tone for what was to come.
The Dance
The routine was a blend of sass, playfulness, and confidence—a reflection of the song’s lively energy. Dancing alongside the instructors pushed me to bring my A-game, as their skill and charisma inspired me to match their level of performance. Together, we created a dynamic routine that was sexy, sassy, and irresistibly fun. Each move flowed into the next, and I could feel the audience’s excitement growing with every beat.
Overcoming Nerves
Despite the confident vibe of the dance, the moments leading up to the performance were nerve-wracking. My costume, while stunning, was a bit smaller than I’m used to, and I was hyper-aware of the potential for a wardrobe malfunction. The thought of a side boob slip was enough to make my heart race! Thankfully, with a few deep breaths and some last-minute adjustments, I managed to channel those nerves into the performance. Once the music started, the adrenaline took over, and all my worries melted away.
Reflection
Performing "Con Calma" in such a grand setting was an empowering experience. It reminded me of how much I’ve grown as a dancer, not just in skill but in confidence. From the dramatic entrance to the playful choreography, this dance was about embracing the moment and giving it my all—nerves and all. It’s a memory I’ll cherish and a reminder that pushing yourself out of your comfort zone can lead to unforgettable experiences.
