Rocking the Dance Floor: My First Lindy Hop to "Jailhouse Rock"
For my seventh dance performance, I decided to dive into something completely new – the Lindy Hop! This dance was extra special because I got to share the stage with my teen niece.

We danced to the classic Elvis hit "Jailhouse Rock," which felt like the perfect energetic and playful choice for my first experience with this style.
One of the best parts of preparing for this dance was the amount of fun we had during practice. There was a moment when I accidentally stepped on my teacher’s toes, and my niece just couldn't stop laughing.

Her laughter was contagious, and before we knew it, all three of us were laughing. It made the whole experience lighthearted and memorable.
To match the song’s vibe, I decided on jail-themed costumes. I wanted to embrace the full "Jailhouse Rock" aesthetic, and I think we pulled it off well. My niece and I also put in some creative work crafting props to enhance the stage, which added another layer of fun to the project.
I’ve always been a fan of Elvis, and getting to dance to one of his iconic songs was a real treat. This performance reminded me why I love dancing – it's about having fun, connecting with others, and embracing the joy of movement. I can’t wait to see what dance style I get to explore next!
