Making Waves: My Little Mermaid Dance Routine
For my eighth dance performance, I decided to dive under the sea with a three-part dance routine inspired by one of my all-time favorite animated movies – The Little Mermaid. This dance was especially meaningful because I wanted to perform it for my niece, who loves the movie just as much as I do.

The routine was broken down into three songs: "Part of Your World" to start and it was an Argentine Tango, followed by "Under the Sea," which was a Samba and finishing with "Kiss the Girl" a Rumba. Each song brought its own mood and energy, and I felt more confident performing this time around. Maybe it was the magic of Disney or just the comfort of dancing to songs I knew by heart, but everything seemed to flow naturally.
One of the most enjoyable parts of preparing for this dance was creating all the props for each scene. From the cave, the boat, to all the small little details, I wanted to bring the underwater world to life.

I even made a Flounder hoodie for my dance teacher, which added a fun and playful element to the performance.
My niece came to a few of my practices, and we shared lots of laughs – especially when I had a few missteps or kept doing extra turns then I was told (lol, don't ask me why, but I guess I love to turn lol). Those moments made the process even more memorable and having her there felt like the perfect way to connect through something we both love.

In the end, everything came together beautifully. This performance was not just about dance but about sharing joy, creativity, and a little Disney magic with the people I care about. I can’t wait to see what theme I take on next!
